OKOTOKS — The leader of Alberta’s Wildrose Alliance says she will run in a rural riding in the next provincial election.

Danielle Smith announced Wednesday she will run in Okotoks-High River, south of Calgary.

The incumbent in the riding is Conservative member George Groenveld.

Smith said the riding is the perfect snapshot of Alberta life.

She said she was announcing her candidacy now so she would have the time to bring her party’s message to the riding and the rest of the province.
