EDMONTON — Alberta’s Wildrose party is promising a tax break for families with young children.

Leader Danielle Smith says if her party is elected April 23, it will create a child tax credit that would mean an extra $200 a year per child in a family.

The money would be available to parents or guardians of those under 18.

Smith says with costs rising in a booming province, families need help to make ends meet.

It’s the first of three tax proposals that the party plans to roll out during the campaign.
