Woman, 40, drowns in Cold Lake

The body of a 40-year-old woman has been recovered from the Cold Lake marina by a search and rescue crew after the woman drowned on the weekend. RCMP say the body of Loryann Cardinal of Bonnyville was submerged in the water when it was spotted Saturday afternoon.

COLD LAKE — The body of a 40-year-old woman has been recovered from the Cold Lake marina by a search and rescue crew after the woman drowned on the weekend.

RCMP say the body of Loryann Cardinal of Bonnyville was submerged in the water when it was spotted Saturday afternoon.

Police say there were no signs of trauma and they dismissed earlier news reports that the body was tangled in rope.

RCMP also say they have not substantiated media reports that the woman had been partying on a boat Friday night.

A autopsy will be held Monday to determine the cause of death.

But police are asking anyone with information about the drowning to contact the Cold Lake RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
