LETHBRIDGE — A southern Alberta woman has made an appearance in court on a charge of child abduction.
Joanne Elizabeth Smith, who is 45, is accused of taking a seven-year-old girl from a home in Fort Macleod.
Mounties issued an Amber Alert on Saturday for the little girl.
They say a woman and a child were spotted in Calgary an hour after the alert was issued.
Smith has been remanded in custody and will be back in court in Lethbridge on Thursday.
