Woman charged after boy drowns in sewage lagoon

A woman charged in connection with the death of a young boy in October 2010 after he drove an ATV into a sewage lagoon, reserved her plea this week.

A woman charged in connection with the death of a young boy in October 2010 after he drove an ATV into a sewage lagoon, reserved her plea this week.

Amanda Ledieu, 35, of the Rocky Mountain House area, made her first appearance in Rocky provincial court on Wednesday and reserved her plea until Dec. 7.

Ledieu is charged with failing to provide the necessities of life for a child less than 16 years of age.

The boy, who had just turned six, was visiting a friend near Rocky and drove into the open septic lagoon and drowned in close proximity to the house.

The incident occurred on Oct. 8, 2010, about 2:20 p.m.
