CALGARY — Calgary police are investigating how a woman attempting to exit a downtown parkade died after becoming crushed between her door and the body of the vehicle.
Emergency crews were called to a parkade Wednesday night to find an SUV crashed into a post and the driver trapped in the driver’s side door.
Fire crews ripped the door from the vehicle to free the victim, but she did not survive.
Paramedics pronounced the woman, believed to be in her 30s, dead at the scene.
Fire department spokesman Jeff Budai said it appeared the victim had been leaning her torso out of the open driver’s said door to access the ticket dispenser when the vehicle unexpectedly moved forward.
