Woman’s trial awaits co-accused’s trial

Trial dates for a woman arrested on drug charges have been adjourned for six months because her defence will hinge on the trial of the man arrested with her.

Trial dates for a woman arrested on drug charges have been adjourned for six months because her defence will hinge on the trial of the man arrested with her.

Summer Brook Kreiser, 31, and Brian Randall Buxton, 34, were arrested on Oct. 23, 2012, by Red Deer City RCMP, who had them under surveillance in connection with a drug operation.

Both have pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing drugs for trafficking, possessing proceeds of crime and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

In Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench on Monday, defence counsel Will Willms asked that Kreiser’s trial, set for Dec. 15, be delayed because the outcome of Buxton’s trial in March will have an effect on hers.

Kreiser’s trial, by judge alone, was rescheduled to June 8 to 12, 2015.
