Red Deer’s door-to-door Yard Waste Collection Program starts on Monday.

City residents can place their yard waste, including grass clippings, leaves and tree trimmings, by the curb for city pick up.

Items must be placed in a metal or plastic garbage container labeled with a yard waste sticker. Residents can also place their yard waste in special biodegradable paper yard waste bags that can be purchased at local home and garden retail outlets.

Yard waste will be picked up on the regular garbage collection day. There is no limit as long as the waste is packaged properly and each container weighs no more than 25 kg.

Collected items count as garbage and are included in residents’ five unit garbage limit.

Orange yard waste stickers can be picked up at the Collicutt Centre, Recreation Centre, City Hall, Civic Yards or at the G.H. Dawe Community Centre.
