Young woman becomes third victim of swine flu in Alberta

CALGARY — Alberta has recorded its third swine flu death.

CALGARY — Alberta has recorded its third swine flu death.

Alberta Health says a woman with no underlying medical issues was admitted to a Calgary hospital on June 29 and immediately tested for the H1N1 virus.

Department officials say she was isolated and died Wednesday night after the virus attacked her respiratory system.

Dr. Richard Musto, Calgary’s medical officer of health, says the victim was young but her age has not been released.

The death is the first in the Calgary area related to the virus and the second in the province this week.

A total of 39 people across Canada have now died from swine flu.
