Red Deer Food Bank volunteer co-ordinator Iris Boyd pulls a box of breakfast cereal out of a collection bin at the Real Canadian Superstore in Red Deer on Tuesday. Over the past two weeks Superstore customers and staff have raised a total of 372 kg. of food and $977.59 in cash for the food bank during the stores national coast to coast food drive campaign.

Barry Weatherall — who used to have a fear of heights — has been climbing for 16 months. He practises on the climbing wall in the fieldhouse at the Collicutt Centre and does it primarily by visualizing and remembering each of the holds that he has encountered on his way up or down. “The climbing is just another challenge that I’ve encountered and can accomplish as a blind person,” he said.Weatherall lost his eyesight 11 years ago in an industrial accident.
