AHS to offer free emergency preparedness workshop

Alberta Health Services is set to offer Albertans a one-hour emergency preparedness online workshop next month.

In a news release, AHS said that with wildfire season underway and Emergency Preparedness Week in early May, the workshop will be a great tool for Albertans.

The online workshop, offered by the AHS Addiction and Mental Health Team, shares ways to be emotionally, socially, and practically prepared for a disaster or an emergency.

“In this interactive and educational webinar, participants are guided through a step-by-step approach to create a personalized emergency preparedness kit while focusing on emotional and social wellness,” AHS said in the release.

“The program is for adults interested in learning skills to cope with disasters and emergencies, and to deal with stress.”

The one-hour workshops take place between May 6 and May 10, with varying start times.

Participants can take part through their smartphone, tablet, or computer.
