Byron Hackett

I have been part of the Red Deer Advocate Black Press Media team since 2017, starting as a sports reporter before becoming Managing Editor.
I became regional editor in March of 2022, helping amplify local stories from across Central Alberta. I started my journalism journey 12 years ago in the small town of Melfort, Saskatchewan and have reported in four different provinces in the last two decades.
