The Lacombe Generals took a commanding 3-0 best-of-seven series lead over the Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs in dramatic fashion Friday in Chinook Hockey League action.

In front of a big home crowd the Generals scored three unanswered goals with just over eight minutes left in the game to erase a two-goal deficit and win 5-4.

Riley Sheen, Teegan Moore and Myles Bell did the damage late for Lacombe in the come-from-behind victory.

Bell also opened the scoring in the first, but the Chiefs tied the game short handed at 5:57.

Early in the second Andre Herman scored for Fort Saskatchewan and the Generals didn’t manage to find the tying goal until 1:54 remaining in the frame.

Penalty trouble hurt the Generals in the third as the Chiefs scored two power play goals less than three minutes apart to jump out to a two-goal lead.

The first power play goal came early on a Kyle Sheen double minor for high sticking and the second came after a Troy Hunter penalty for interference.

The Chiefs finished the night 2/10 on the power play while Lacombe was 0/4.

Ryan Demharter played big in net for Fort Saskatchewan with 40 saves and Jacob Deserres made 32 stops for Lacombe.

The Generals have a chance to close out the series in Fort Saskatchewan Saturday night.
