With just one minute and 55 seconds left in the game, it looked like the Red Deer Optimist Chiefs were ready to move on in the Alberta Midget Hockey League playoffs.

Red Deer had a 2-1 lead in the third period at home in the final game of the best-of-three series, before the Northwest Calgary Flames turned the tables.

The Flames tied the game late, and ended the series in heartbreak for Red Deer at 13:52 of the second overtime. Calgary moved on to the second round with the 3-2 overtime win.

The Chiefs jumped ahead in the second period on power play goal when Adam Sandstrom wired a point shot past Calgary goalie Benjamin Howard.

After the Flames tied the game at one, Sandstrom again pulled his team ahead with a wrist shot from the half wall that eluded Howard in the third period.

Calgary out shot the Chiefs 49-36 in the game.
