Over the Thanksgiving weekend Alberta RCMP issued 2,653 traffic tickets as part of #OperationImpact2022.
Between Oct. 7 to 10, there were no fatalities from motor vehicle collisions, and 21 motor collisions that resulted in injury across the Alberta RCMP jurisdiction.
Alberta RCMP patrolling provincial roads and highways issued 1,328 speeding charges, 18 excessive speeding charges (more than 50 km/h over the posted limit), 58 driving without a seatbelt charges, and 65 distracted driving charges. A total of 88 impaired drivers were also removed from the roads.

RCMP said 40 calls came in from the public notifying police of dangerous or suspected impaired drivers. Eleven of the reports resulted in officers locating the vehicles, confirming that the drivers were impaired, and removing them from the road.
#OperationImpact2022 is an initiative organized by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police to encourage safe driving behaviours.
