Hospitality establishments across Central Alberta will participate in a provincial food and drink festival next month.
More than 100 unique establishments in 27 communities throughout Alberta featuring over 200 farms and producers will be highlighted in the event called Alberta on the Plate.
The event is a province-wide dine-around where participating restaurants offer fixed-price menus highlighting local producers, growers, distillers, and brewers. It takes place in conjunction with Alberta Local Food Week and Alberta Open Farm Days.
“This slate of participating establishments showcases the local flavours that influence each region of the province,” stated Rheannon Green, Director of Finer Details with Food Tourism Strategies. “From the Indigenous peoples who shaped our land, to the immigration influences of the French, Ukrainian,
Chinese and Vietnamese, the Alberta terroir is shaped by the people as much as by the land which is reflected in the diversity of the restaurants, food products and culinary creators across Alberta.”
Red Deer will feature several spots, including Bo’s Bar and Stage, Cilantro and Chive, Memphis Blues BBQ House, Occam’s Razor and WestLake Grill.
In Lacombe, Cilantro and Chive, Blindman Brewing and Moe’s Pizza are all participating. Sylvan Lake will see Lodge 43 and Son of a Beach participate, while Then Glens Grill in Wetaskiwin will also join in.
