The City of Red Deer is looking to improve pedestrian safety by installing rectangular rapid flash beacons in five new locations.
Between Wednesday and Nov. 26, crews will be installing the structures in the following locations, 32 Street and 44A Avenue; Bennett Street and Baker Avenue; 69 Street Drive and 59 Avenue; 69 Street Drive at Aspen Heights Elementary School and Timothy Drive at Barrie Wilson Elementary School.
The work includes installation of steel anchor bases, poles, solar panels, crosswalk buttons and the flashing beacons.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and obey all signs while crews are working on the installations. This schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change.
