The City of Lacombe will conduct a municipal census from April 2 to June 20.

In the week before April 2, each household will receive information and a unique PIN to complete the census online at www.lacombe.ca/census. The census will be available from 8 a.m. on April 2 to 8 p.m. on June 20.

“Lacombe is growing, and the city needs accurate, up-to-date population information in order to maximize on the various grants we receive from the provincial and federal governments,” said Mayor Grant Creasey in a statement.

“Many of these grants are calculated on a per capita basis. When you count yourself in, your city receives $210 per person in grant dollars that support our roads, policing, social programs, and other important municipal services.”

A kiosk be set up at City Hall for those with limited access to computers. Lacombe and District Family and Community Support Services has offered in-person assistance to those needing help. Residents can also phone 403-302-8551 to complete the census.

Everyone who completes the census online will be entered into a random draw for Kinsmen Aquatic Centre family pool passes.

Enumerators will begin collecting census data on April 15 by visiting households that have not responded online.

When an enumerator comes to a residence and finds no one home, information will be left on the door indicating that the census worker was there. The resident can then contact the enumerator to arrange a convenient time for the worker to return.
