The Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association is holding a virtual public awareness campaign Thursday.
After the COVID-19 crisis cancelled several fundraising events this spring, the association decided to create a virtual event called Lawyers vs. Talent, which will support the United Way and help provide legal support during the pandemic.
“The legal profession and our judiciary have decided to lead the way in ensuring innovative access to justice for our growing vulnerable populations and all Albertans,” said association member Donna Purcell.
“Grab a Shaq-a-Roni, set up a Zoom after-party, and come enjoy the entertainment, including some pros who know what they are doing, and learn from our feature presenters.”
The event goes from 6 to 8 p.m., and will feature a variety of performances from Candela and Global A2J Alliance, squaring off against several groups of lawyers.
The dance portion will have celebrity judges, and the event will include presentations from Maria Mitousis, Rumana Monzur and Nonye Opara.
A minimum $50 donation to the United Way receives the premiere access link, or individuals can donate any amount for an after-the-event link.
