A dozen Central Alberta non-profit organizations will come together next month to show appreciation for volunteers.

Ahead of National Volunteers Week from April 24-30, the 12 groups will be saying thank you to volunteers by posting on social media about those individuals on social media “in hopes those who see it will share and spread the love and possibly spark the interest for more volunteers to come forward”.

The groups include: Family Services of Central Alberta, Alberta Sports Hall of Fame, Red Deer Child Care, Cosmos, Central Alberta FASD Network, Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre, Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre, Youth HQ, CARE for Newcomers, Red Deer and District Community Foundation, Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery, and Tourism Red Deer.

“In doing this, we are hoping to share our love and appreciation for those who give their time to our organizations in central Alberta. Some of our organizations couldn’t do it without them,” said Judy Scott of Family Services Central Alberta.

“Their work in our community makes it a much better and stronger one. To all of those who volunteer, Thank you.”

For those looking to volunteer but who don’t know where to start, they are encouraged to visit www.volunteerconnector.org.
