Ian Vanderlinde, 28 of Innisfail and Justin Duperron, 34, of Red Deer are facing a collection of charges as a result of the botched robbery.

Around 3 a.m. on May 18, police responded to an alarm at a gas station in the north end of the city and when they arrived they noticed a truck had smashed through the front entrance and the individuals were attempting to remove the ATM.

The two male suspects fled in the vehicle upon the police’s arrival.

In the course of the pursuit, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into another business in the Northlands Industrial Park, where they fled on foot.

Police Dog Services was dispatched and were able to track the suspects, who were located and arrested on top of a nearby commercial building.

Vanderlinde faces 14 charges, including several firearms and ammunition-related charges, mischief over $5000, break and entering, failure to comply with a release order, and failure to comply with undertaking.

Duperron, faces 34 charges, including mischief, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break-in instruments, break and enter, flight from police, possession of a controlled substance, multiple failure to comply charges, multiple possession of weapons, firearms and ammunition charges, and multiple careless use of firearm charges.

Vanderlinde and Duperron have been remanded and were scheduled to appear at Red Deer Provincial Court on Thursday.
