Grade 1 students at École Barrie Wilson Elementary School joined in province-wide Arbor Day celebrations on Wednesday.

About 1,500 local students received Lodgepole pine seedlings to plant at home or in a natural area in Red Deer.

Each Arbor Day, a local school is picked as the location in which a tree is planted. The City of Red Deer is donating a Bur Oak for the event.
