Remembrance Day ceremonies virtual and in-person across Central Alberta

The Royal Canadian Legion #35 in Red Deer will host an in-person ceremony for Remembrance Day at Servus Arena.

The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m., following the Restrictions Exemption Program.

There will also be an outdoor ceremony hosted by the Korean War Veterans of Red Deer #67 at the Red Deer Cenotaph downtown. It will start at 10:45 a.m. and be live-streamed on their Facebook page: Cenotaph Remembrance Day Ceremony - Veteran’s Park.

Masks and social distancing are strongly encouraged.

In Innisfail, the legion will host an outdoor ceremony at the cenotaph and it will be live-streamed starting at 10:45 a.m.

The Lacombe legion will also host an outdoor ceremony at the LMC Cenotaph. The proceedings will get underway at 10:30 a.m.

In Sylvan Lake, there will be a combination of in-person and online services. The Remembrance Day service joint venture between the Legion and Town of Sylvan Lake will be live-streamed for everyone to attend virtually via the town website at www.sylvanlake.ca.

There will be a small audience of about 70 people present for the morning ceremony at the community centre, but the service is invitation only. The invitations will be reserved for veterans.

The morning ceremony will be followed by the cenotaph outdoor service scheduled for 2 p.m.

In Olds, the Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at the Legion auditorium at 10:15 a.m.

Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID 19 test with 72 hours or proof of medical exemption is required to attend. Due to COVID restrictions, the number of attendees is limited.

The Rocky Mountain House Legion will host a virtual Remembrance Day service, starting at 10:50 a.m. on Facebook Live.

The Ponoka Legion Branch 66 is hosting a live-streamed Remembrance Day Service on their Facebook page on Thursday, November 11 between 10:30 - 10:45 a.m. The indoor service will take place at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium, with doors opening at 10:15 a.m. The Restrictions Exemption Program will also be in place.
