Rocky Mountain House couple wins $2 million lottery prize

Maryann Dickson and Gerald Stenvers of Rocky Mountain House couldn’t believe their luck.

Dickson bought a ticket for the May 12 WESTERN 649 lottery and to her surprise, they had won $2 million.

“I was watching television, about to go to bed,” said Dickson. “I checked the numbers on WCLC’s website and couldn’t believe it!”

“I called Gerald at work and said, ‘Don’t panic, but we won $2 million!’” she laughed.

Stenvers had a similar reaction to their win.

“I was pretty surprised,” he said. “Actually, I couldn’t believe it. I asked her, ‘Are you sure you have the right numbers?’”

The new winners said they have a couple of big plans for their windfall.

“We’re both going to retire,” said Dickson. “We’re also looking into moving back East. Most of our family still lives there and we’ve wanted to move back for years.”
