Karin Plunkett of Sylvan Lake was a winner in the annual Alberta Cancer Foundation Cash and Cars Lottery.

Plunkett won one of the secondary prizes, a 14-karat gold lady’s tennis bracelet valued at $27,903.

The provincewide lottery was sold out and nearly 2,300 prizes were won by Albertans.

The winner of a $1.3-million showhome in Calgary, plus $5,000 cash, was Alex Broda of Calgary.

The winners of the grand prize, a $1.2-million home in St. Albert was Rick and Carol Andersen of Chestermere.

Alice Diane Haraba of St. Paul collected $939,677.50 after winning her half of the total $1.8-million jackpot.

The lottery enables the Alberta Cancer Foundation to fund enhanced care, including the patient financial assistance program, which helps Albertans undergoing treatment cover the costs for food, transportation and childcare.

Last year, more than 1,000 patients accessed the program nearly 6,000 times, at a cost of $1.3 million.
