The iconic West Park Middle School building is no more.
Construction crews worked through a large part of the demolition process Friday and Saturday, taking down the old building, which sat in front of the brand new building on the west side of Red Deer.
The 50-year-old school was replaced with a new $18 million facility in the spring of 2019. It officially opened in October of last year. Construction began on the new school in 2017.
Former principal Dean Pasiuk, said last spring that Westpark Middle School has “served its community well for 50 years.”
“This place obviously holds a special place in the West Park community’s heart…It really goes to show how great this place is,” he said at the time.
