Local football players continue to make an impact on the provincial stage.

Last weekend at a Team Alberta U17 and U18 tryout with more than 400 football players across the province, six from Central Alberta made the first wave of cuts.

Three players from the Hunting Hills Lightning including defensive backs Quinn Doll and Logan Kendze, as well as linebacker Joel DeMale and defensive linemen Kyle Rees, were selected among the 130 players that moved on.

Sylvan Lake wide receiver Cody Peever and linebacker Chase Pack of Lindsay Thurber were also selected.

Next up, these players will attend main selection camp in April in Calgary. They will try to earn a spot on either the Team Alberta U18 group that will play at the Pacific Challenge in Hawaii or the Football Canada Cup in Nova Scotia.
