Both teams provided plenty of offensive firepower, each picking up 15 hits in the contest.
After the two teams were tied 4-4 through 10 innings, Alberta pulled ahead 6-4 in the 11th. Chatham tied it up in the bottom half before Alberta added two more in the 13th to go up 8-6. Justin Cormier singled in a pair of runs in the bottom of the 13th to win it for Chatham.
Red Deer’s Jaret Chatwood went hitless in seven at-bats. James Fischer pitched seven and two-thirds innings for Alberta didn’t allow an earned run while striking out seven. Tony Olsen led Alberta with four hits, all singles to go along with three RBI. Rejean Bourget had three singles.
Next up for Alberta, they’ll face B.C. on Saturday morning, before a date with Nova Scotia 2 in the afternoon.
