Two performances on the pitch stole the show this weekend for RDC Athletics.
Alisha Coules and Kyle Bett were selected Tuesday as the RDC Athletes of the Week.
Coules, a second-year Bachelor of Science-Nursing student had a game to remember against the Medicine Hat Rattlers. The Stettler product collected a natural hat trick in a 4-0 win over the Rattlers. She scored in the 51st minute, before adding a goal 10 minutes later. She completed the hat trick in the 70th minute. Coules was player of the game for her efforts.
Although the Queens were shutout Sunday, Coules played all 90 minutes in a 3-0 loss to the Lethbridge College Kodiaks.
Bett, a third-year general Kinesiology major, helped the Kings pick up four of a possible six points on opening weekend. The Calgary native was a big part of the Kings locking down the Rattlers in a nil-nil draw Saturday.
Sunday, Bett earned player of the game honours for the Kings. He had a pair of shots on net, an assist on the opening goal and again played strong defence in a 3-2 win over the Kodiaks.
The Kings and Queens will take on the Olds College Broncos in their home opener Friday afternoon. The Queens kick off a 2 p.m., with the Kings to follow at 4 p.m.
