Eight Red Deer female hockey players named All-Stars

Eight Red Deer players were given the nod for the Alberta Female Hockey League (AFHL) inaugural midget and bantam All-Star games.

Red Deer will host the Midget Elite All-Star Game on Jan. 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the Penhold Regional Complex.

The South Division All-Stars will be lead by Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs coach Brad Koopmans. Forwards Danica Polson and ShaeLynne Bilodeau, along with defenceman Gracyn Hollman were selected to the Roster by AFHL coaches. Polson leads the Midget Elite league with 14 goals and is tied for second in points with 16. Chiefs goalie Jayda Thompson was also named to the team based on her 6-1 record, including five shutouts, 0.86 goals against average and .960 save percentage.

The Bantam Elite All-Star game will be played on Jan 14, in Strathmore. Four Chiefs players also were selected, forwards Kylie Perry and Stephanie Keeper, on defence Aryn Chambers. Chiefs goalie, Kameryn Guhl with play net for the South Division in the Bantam Elite game, she holds a 2-3-2 record, with a 1.83 GAA and a .920 save percentage.

Host associations will offer development clinics for female athletes within their communities.
