Generals win Game 3, take 2-1 series lead over Stony Plain

The Lacombe Generals rode a second period scoring wave to a 7-2 victory over the Stony Plain Eagles in Game 3 of the Senior AAA Provincial Final Friday.

Leading 1-0 after 20 minutes on a goal by Nolan Huysman, the Generals scored twice in the opening minute of the second and five in the period to pull away from the Eagles.

Kyle Bailey and Jesse Todd had the earlier period markers before the Eagles responded with a pair.

Ian Barteaux started another scoring flurry with just over five minutes to play in the second, before Myles Bell and Todd found the mark in next 1:51 to open up a huge lead for the Generals.

Devin Gannon added a third-period goal for Lacombe.

Jake DeSerres stopped 21 shots in the Generals net while Davis Jones made 37 saves in two periods of work for the Eagles.

Lacombe leads the best-of-seven series 2-1 and is on the road in Stony Plain for game 4.
