Griffins win Game 3, Queens hockey face do-or-die Friday

EDMONTON– The RDC Queens just couldn’t crack Grant MacEwan University Griffins goalie Sandy Heim Thursday night.

EDMONTON– The RDC Queens just couldn’t crack Grant MacEwan University Griffins goalie Sandy Heim Thursday night.

The Griffins netminder earned player of the game honours with 39 saves in the 3-1 win over the Queens in Game 3 of the best-of-five Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference final.

Grant MacEwan jumped out to a 2-0 lead before defenceman Cassidy Anderson found the mark for the Queens late in the first.

Nikki Reimer scored the only goal for the Griffins in the third.

Third-year Queens goalie Tracie Kikuchi made 23 saves in the loss. Anderson, a fifth-year defenceman for RDC was player of the game.

Game 4 is Friday in Red Deer at the Centrium with puck drop set for 7:30 p.m.
