The Lindsay Thurber Raiders senior boys clinched a Central Alberta Schools Athletic Association basketball zone title on Friday in Lacombe.

The Raiders picked up a 73-63 win over the Lacombe Rams to take out the defending zone champs and punch a ticket to 4A Provincials in Medicine Hat.

The Raiders won game 1 on home court Tuesday, but after a loss Thursday needed a win in hostile territory to earn the zone championship.

Kade Best led the way for Lindsay Thurber with 20 points and senior Sean Vandervlis chipped in 15 points. Point guard Vince Barbuco added nine points in the win.

The game was tied at 30 at halftime, but the Raiders pulled away with a 54-47 advantage after three quarters.

Both the Lindsay Thurber senior boys and girls will travel to 4A provincials next weekend in Medicine Hat.
