Lindsay Thurber Raiders win aggregate title at Junior High Track and Field meet

The Lindsay Thurber Raiders ruled the track and the Red Deer Junior High School Athletic Association Track and Field Meet.

They took home the overall aggregate title at the meet Wednesday on their home track, with 452 points. Hunting Hills was second with 205 points and St. Thomas of Assisi was third with 115.

Lindsay Thurber’s McKayla Jensen was the top female in the individual aggregate at the Grade 9 meet. Jensen won the 100 metre (12.71 seconds), 200m (27.92), 80m hurdles (12.93) and triple jump (9.83).

Ella Damberger of Lindsay Thurber was second in the aggregate, winning the 800 (2:42.17), 1500 (5:51.71) and 3000-metre (12:22.27) races.Sophie Kay (Lindsay Thurber), Brinley Davidson (Hunting Hills) and Hayley Zinger (St. Teresa of Avila School) all tied for third with 22 points.

In the boys aggregate, Mason Leroux was the top athlete with 30 points. He picked up wins in the 100m (11.62), high jump (1.65 metres) and long jump (5.51m) to take the aggregate title. Raiders athlete Cage Hansen was second overall and Lane Fox completed the Lindsay Thurber sweep in third.

Hansen was the top athlete in the triple jump (10.95) and shot put (11.47m). He earned second place in high jump.

Fox won the 200m (24.99) and was second in the 100m (11.84) and long jump (5.16).

Athletes earned 10 points for a top finish and also picked up points for any finish in the top 8.
