A group of local ringette players have been invited to train and compete against the best in the country.

Six Central Alberta players will attend the High-Performance Challenge Cup in Calgary from May 9-12, hosted by Ringette Canada.

Five of invitees are Lacombe products, including Jamie Bell, Dailyn Bell, Gillian Dreger, Melissa Misutka and Lindsay Vink. Red Deer’s Breanna Beck, who won a National Ringette Championship gold medal with the Calgary Rath will also be at the national team camp.

“The Challenge Cup environment provides an excellent forum for our athletes, coaches and officials to continuously improve,” said Barb Bautista, Team Canada head coach in a Ringette Canada press release. “This series represents an opportunity to foster this high-performance growth and we are excited for the upcoming camp.”

The three-day event in Calgary is designed to bring together the top players in Canada ahead of the 2019 World Ringette Championships which will be held in Burnaby, B.C. in November.
