Olds College Broncos forward Brittany Thibeaux was honoured for her spectacular season this week.
At the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Basketball National Championships in Cégep de Sainte-Foy in Sainte-Foy, Que., Thibeaux was celebrated as the Player of the Year.
The fourth-year forward led the Broncos to a 17-4 record and a trip to the national championships. She was the leading scorer in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference, averaging 27.2 points per game over 21 games. She ranked fourth in the conference with 9.8 rebounds per game and second in blocks at 1.7 per game.
She had 11 double-doubles this season and became the fastest player in ACAC history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. The Lake Villa, Illinois native, was also a CCAA All-Canadian.
The Broncos won 61-37 in their opening game at nationals and Thibeaux had eight points in the win.
