The RDC Kings season came to a screeching halt on Friday afternoon at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Champions.
RDC dropped the first consolation game in Lethbridge 89-80 to the Keyano College Huskies, despite opening up the game with a 24-15 advantage after one quarter.
With the loss, the Kings season is over.
The Kings bench outscored the Huskies 29-18, but RDC really missed big-man Daniel Powell in the contest. Keyano outscored the Kings 40-18 in the paint and outrebounded RDC 39-31.
The Huskies used a 12-2 run late in the first half to take a 39-27 advantage after 20 minutes, then scored 13 straight early in the third quarter to pull away.
Solon Ellis, a first-year guard from St. Paul, Minnesota led the Kings with 18 points and was named player of the game.
Dshawn Tyrell scored 16 for RDC and Omon Edobar chipped in 13 in 37 minutes. Spencer Klassen came off the bench and played 34 minutes and contributed 13 points.
