After finding their new head coach, the Red Rebels have moved on to fill their assistant coach vacancy.

In late May, the team announced that assistant coach Brad Flynn and goalie coach Kraymer Barnstable would not return to the team in 2021-22.

Ryan Colville, who was with the team for the last two seasons, will be back again next year.

Rebels owner, president and GM Brent Sutter said along with assistant GM Shaun Sutter, new head coach Steve Konowalchuk will work together to find someone who fits the organization well.

“We want to find someone that can compliment Steve and someone that Steve feels comfortable with. At the end of the day, it’s got to be the right fit for our coaching staff and our head coach,” Sutter said.

He added that they have some candidates already and are just going through the process to identify the right person.

“There’s a certain type of coach that we want to find. We have great candidates and so it’s just a process. It takes time,” Sutter said.

“We’ll get through it and bring in the right person at the right time.”
