It was not the showing the Red Deer Optimist Chiefs had hoped for at the Mac’s Midget AAA Tournament in Calgary.
The Optimist Chiefs finished the tournament 1-3, winning their only game Monday, a 4-1 victory over the Calgary Flames.
Andrew Wallace, Grady Mofford, Foxx Doell and Ben Perreault all scored in the win for Red Deer.
Saturday, they lost a 7-4 decision to the Chicago Mission.
Tied 1-1 after the first period, Chicago scored six straight goals between the second and third periods before the Optimist Chiefs answered. Ty Daneault had a pair of goals, including a power play tally and Ben Perreault also scored.
Tyler MacKenzie scored the first-period goal for Red Deer short-handed.
Logan Breen allowed five goals on 33 shots, while Colby Knight stopped five shots in relief.
Sunday, the Chiefs fell 2-0 to the Saskatoon Blazers.
