It’s been a strong start for Team Alberta at the WHL Cup.

Pitted against the best under 16 hockey players in Western Canada, Alberta has started the five-day mini-tournament in Calgary 2-0.

Thursday night, Alberta earned a 3-2 victory over Saskatchewan.

In their opener Wednesday, three Red Deer products featured prominently in a 7-3 win over Manitoba.

Alternate captain Nate Danielson had an assist, while Tyler Mackenzie and defenceman Kaiden Ellertson each notched a goal and a helper. Danielson was player of the game for his efforts.

Alberta will play Team B.C. Friday night in Calgary.
