The Red Deer Rustlers secured a playoff date with the Sylvan Lake Pirates.

Red Deer shutout the Westlock Warriors 3-0 on Saturday and clinched second in the North Central Senior Hockey League standings.

That sets them up for a series with the Pirates to open the playoffs next weekend.

In the 3-0 win Saturday, Red Deer scored three times in the second period to push past Westlock.

Mark Matkowski, Kyle Pess and Braden Corbett had the tallies. Connor Johnston had a pair of assists and Brett Bothwell earned the shutout with 15 saves.

Sylvan Lake finished the regular season with a 7-2 loss Friday in Eckville and ended the season 3-10. The Rustlers had a 12-4 record for the year and finished one point behind Daysland for first in the NCHL.
