On the biggest stage in the country, Red Deer’s Jeremiah Lauzon came up with a performance to remember.

The 22-year-old old raced to a bronze medal over the weekend, on his birthday no less, at the Canadian National Track and Field Championships in Langley, B.C.

Lauzon finished fifth overall in the 200 metre prelims with a time of 21.34 seconds, before blowing the doors off with a 20.71 in the final Sunday for the third-place finish.

He finished behind Canadian Olympians Aaron Brown and Jerome Blake. Brown captured gold in 20.03 and Blake finished just ahead of Lauzon in 20.32. The Red Deer product finished just one, one hundreds of a second ahead of fellow Albertan Benjamin Williams.

Canadian star Andre De Grasse did not race at the event due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Lauzon’s time is among the top-1o in the country this year.

Earlier this season, Lauzon captured an NCAA Division II national champion in the 4x100 metre relay.
