Red Deer’s Tammy Cunnington missed a chance at a medal in her first event at the Tokyo Paralympics.
Cunnington, 45, finished fifth in her heat in the 150 metre individual medley SM4. She finished the race with a time of 3:41.06.
“This is what I’ve worked for the past few years. My classification is very strong at these games but my focus is only on myself and having a strong positive race. Finals may be out of reach but I’ll swim the hell out of it regardless,” Cunnington Tweeted ahead of the race Thursday.
Cunnington still has two events left at the Paralympics. She will also race in the women’s 50m breaststroke SB3 on Monday at 7:07 p.m MT and the 50m backstroke S4 on Sept. 2 at 7:07 p.m MT.
