Team Canada and Red Deer coach Trent Farebrother got off to a slow start in goalball at the Paralympics.

Canada lost its opening match 5-1 to the Russian Paralympic Committee on Wednesday in their opening game. In Game 2, Canada will square off against Israel. That match gets underway at 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

Canada will play Australia on Friday night at 6 p.m. and finish round robin play Sunday at 11:45 p.m. against China.

Farebrother competed in the 1988 and 1992 Paralympics in Seoul, South Korea, and Barcelona, Spain, and also was part of a team that finished third at the World Cup of Goalball in 1990 in Calgary.

He played up until 2009 and then became a coach.
