Once again, we have the privilege of travelling to Vancouver Island to see the three most beautiful grandchildren in the world, (along with their parents of course). The greatest thing when you only see them once or twice a year is to witness their growth each time you visit. Although we had an inkling of their progress through the use of Skype and phone calls and such, nothing is the same as being able to see them in the flesh.

But once again, there is a new study that tells us exactly what we already know. Anybody who takes time to pull away from their cellphone and look around or a brief moment or two will no doubt agree that people just can’t detach themselves from their phones these days.

Patients spend the majority of their visit to a hospital in a bed. A simple, unsexy, plain, insignificant bed. Street Tales: It only takes a storm

At four-thirty in the morning after the big wind storm, we were awakened to the buzzing sound of chainsaws close by. Crawling reluctantly out of bed I went to investigate and found city crews cutting down two of our big spruce trees that the wind had blown over onto several power lines. By this time our power had been off for nine and a half hours. Two and a half hours later, our power returned.
