Even the historical society didn’t know.

Most lawyers and judges who I know are strong supporters of the arts in some fashion. My lawyer spouse will be first online with Ticketmaster for most concerts by entertainers he likes who are playing in Calgary or Edmonton or anywhere he travels (same for sports) and he attends most live events in the City. With my two, now adult, daughters being competitive dancers and performers from the age of three, we covered many concerts but many other performances including dance and live theatre.

Ready or not, the Christmas season has dropped in on us, and no matter what cards have been dealt to us in the off-season, it is happening.

Winter begins later this month, but is already on the ground in many parts of the country

This is the season when new games and toys capture the attention of young and old alike

They say it’s the world’s most popular sport. That may be true around our spinning (wobbling?) globe but I do know that it was certainly the most popular sport at recess at South School if you don’t count chasing girls.

Although we drive down the major roadways in Red Deer on a regular basis, we rarely ask how it was that these thoroughfares got their names. In our city, most are named after prominent residents and/or long time families.

Shrinkflation. Perhaps you’ve bumped into that word, or perhaps you think I’m just making something up (again). Well, for once, I’m not making something up. In fact, the term “shrinkflation” was recently celebratorially added as one of the official new words in the Merriam Webster dictionary for 2022. (I did, however, make up the word “celebratorially” which I think should be officially added next year).
