Ottawa’s taxes and regulations are driving up costs for farmers and the families who buy the food they produce

“Sorry, we’re all out. Supply chain issues you know.” It seems that this phrase has become somewhat of a cliché for the past two years, whether it’s at grocery stores, retail shopping, or local restaurants.

Once in a lifetime, a unique opportunity comes along. Great leaders seize it.

I supported the concept of the Alberta Sovereignty Act before the UCP leadership race. It was developed by the Free Alberta Strategy. I participated in their townhalls supporting their strategies, as did two of the UCP leadership candidates, Danielle Smith and Todd Loewen. Jason Kenney and his cabinet ministers did not.

Last month, I was pleased to present Alberta’s 2021-22 year-end fiscal results, which show the province brought in just over $68 billion in revenue and spent just over $64 billion to support public services. That means the province ended the fiscal year with a surplus of $3.9 billion.

On May 4, I was proud that Bill 15 – the Education (Reforming Teacher Profession Discipline) Amendment Act had successfully passed third reading. With this Act, we will be able to ensure a transparent and unbiased process of discipline for all teachers and teacher leaders in Alberta.
