Poll results: Most Advocate readers excited for upcoming slate of major sporting events

There seems to be a growing sense of pride in Central Alberta about the glut of major sports events arriving in the next two years.

There seems to be a growing sense of pride in Central Alberta about the glut of major sports events arriving in the next two years.

Nearly 47 per cent (of the 58 votes cast) of Advocate readers were excited about the prospect of events like the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, the Canadian Finals Rodeo, and the Allan Cup coming to town in 2018 and 2019.

Thirty-one per cent of respondents felt they aren’t excited about the events that are upcoming. Six people were moderately excited and seven were indifferent. The one-week poll ran on the Advocate website between Jan. 31 and Feb. 7.
